A Bright New Cafe for Farleigh Hospice
- Farleigh Hospice
- Broomfield, Chelmsford
- New Cafe & Atrium
- 4–6 Weeks
Farleigh Hospice opened a refurbished cafe and a brand-new atrium as part of its 20th anniversary. So the team needed hospice cafe furniture that felt warm, calm and welcoming.
Forest Contract supplied the complete package. It also included arm chairs, bar stools, fluted banquette seating and marble-effect tables.
As a result, families, staff and volunteers now have a bright, comfortable place to meet and eat.
“The furniture is just right and we have had so many positive comments on it – the comfort, visual and feel is just what we were hoping for.”
“Thank you so much for being so responsive and for providing us with the perfect look in such a timely manner!”
Comfort for the People Who Matter Most
A hospice cafe is more than somewhere to grab a coffee. Instead, for families, it is a place to pause, talk and take a breath. Because of this, the hospice cafe furniture had to feel homely, while still coping with daily use.
In short, the brief called for furniture that would:
- Feel soft and inviting, yet look smart and modern
- Also match the original design visuals closely
- Suit both the cafe and the new atrium
- Arrive quickly, ready for the anniversary opening
Matching the Design Visuals
First, the original design visuals set out the look the hospice wanted. They showed sage and grey seating, as well as green tiles and a long banquette.
Then we matched every piece to that look, using our own ranges and fabrics. Side by side, the finished cafe sits very close to the original vision.

A Calm, Natural Palette
We upholstered the seating in the Panaz Highland range, a hard-wearing commercial fabric. Together, four soft shades then work across the room.
Meanwhile, every frame has a clear lacquer, so the natural beech shows through. White Calacatta marble-effect tops also keep the space light and fresh.
The Hospice Cafe Furniture Package
Next, we built a complete package for the cafe and atrium. We chose each piece for comfort, as well as easy cleaning and long life.
Aztec Arm Chairs
Rounded backs in Silver, as well as Dusty Sage, from our arm chair range.
Ohio Arm Chairs
Also in Silver and Dusty Sage, so the two styles blend.
Aztec Bar Stools
Celadon, together with Steel, at the counter. Explore our bar stools too.
Fluted Banquette
Six modular units in Highland Steel, together forming one long run.
Calacatta Ceramic Tops
Gloss table tops in square, as well as rectangular, sizes.
Samson Table Bases
Black twin table bases, together with single bases.
A Fluted Banquette Along the Shelving Wall
The star of the room is a six-metre banquette with a fluted back. It also runs beneath the timber shelving, just as the visuals showed.
Because the banquette is modular, the units fit the wall neatly and work well with the layout. Overall, it gives the cafe a relaxed lounge feel, as well as extra seating.
The design visuals set the vision. The finished cafe brought it to life.
What the Hospice Gained
In short, the new hospice cafe furniture delivered:
First, a cafe that closely matches the design visuals
Soft seating for families, as well as visitors
Also, a calm palette of sage, grey and beech
Quick delivery, so it was ready in four to six weeks
Above all, plenty of positive comments from visitors
