Parknasilla Resort and Spa
Set on a 500-acre estate on the shores of Kenmare Bay, Parknasilla has welcomed guests since 1895. George Bernard Shaw stayed often in the 1920s and worked on Saint Joan here. Today it is a four-star resort with a spa and its own golf course.

Hotel furniture for Parknasilla
New bar stools and chairs for the Doolittle Bar were our first commission here, in 2015, and the resort has ordered again since. Our designer worked with the resort's own, and the fabrics were chosen by the resort for each room, carrying through from the sun lounge to the bedrooms.

About Parknasilla
Parknasilla began as a railway hotel and first opened its doors in 1895. Its name comes from the Irish Páirc na Saileach, the field of willow trees, and guests in its heyday included Charles de Gaulle and Éamon de Valera. The resort is set in about 500 acres of parkland on Kenmare Bay, on the Ring of Kerry and the Wild Atlantic Way, about three miles from Sneem, with views across to the Kerry mountains.
The main house has 83 rooms over three floors and was renovated in 2016, with villas and lodges in the grounds. Guests dine in the Pygmalion Restaurant, whose bay window looks over Kenmare Bay, and in the Doolittle Bar, and the spa has 12 treatment rooms, thermal suites, outdoor hot tubs and an indoor pool. There is also tennis, archery, kayaking and a network of walking trails.

Parknasilla's public rooms are traditional and generous, and the furniture had to suit them. In the sun lounge, tub chairs in a soft green and gold windowpane check and brown leather armchairs gather around a grand piano, with the bay filling the windows on three sides.
The Doolittle Bar is darker and cosier: gold patterned wallpaper, a mahogany back bar and an open fire, with bar stools upholstered in a brown and cream check on timber frames. Up in the bedrooms, armchairs in a soft mink with timber arms sit in the window bays, turned towards the view, so the same country-house feel runs from the sun lounge to the bedrooms.
