Why banquette seating works: space, comfort and privacy
Banquettes and booths seat more guests in the same space, keep walkways clear and give diners a more comfortable, private place to sit. How to plan them.
The benefits
- More covers. A banquette along a wall or back to back down the middle of a room seats more guests than loose chairs in the same floor area, because there is no space lost behind each chair.
- Clearer walkways. Fixed seating keeps chairs out of the way of staff and guests, so service is quicker and the room looks tidy all night.
- Comfort and privacy. A high back and a deep, upholstered seat make guests want to stay, and booths give tables a sense of privacy.
- A finished look. Fluted, buttoned, plain or bolster backs, in your fabric or leather, make the seating part of the interior.
Sizes and styles
Our standard section is 900 mm high and 600 mm deep, with a seat 450 mm high, and every run is made to your length, height and layout, from your drawings or our survey. Runs can be straight, shaped to follow a wall or window, or curved, and booths can be single-sided, back-to-back, U-shaped or with a radius corner.
See the banquette seating page for styles and dimensions, and projects such as The Vale and Hotel Cromwell.
