The Fleece, Addingham
The Fleece is a Grade II listed stone inn on Main Street in Addingham, in Wharfedale. Empty after a fire in 2015, it reopened in May 2017 after a £1.2 million renovation, as a 250-cover inn with a restaurant, function room and private dining.
Pub furniture for The Fleece
To an 'old meets new' brief, we supplied traditional furniture and bespoke banquette seating for the ground-floor restaurant, and dining chairs with an exclusive quilted finish for the contemporary function room. Solid oak tops on poseur bases, in dark brown stains, and bar stools for the first-floor gin bar completed the order.

About The Fleece
The Fleece and its adjoining barn, at 152–154 Main Street, were listed at Grade II in 1977. Historic England dates the inn to the mid-eighteenth century, built of hammer-dressed stone under a stone slate roof with a basket-arched central doorway, and the barn still shows its cart entrance and the doorway of a former mistal, or cow-shed.
In 2011 the chef Craig Minto reopened it as a pub, deli and cookery school, until a fire in September 2015 damaged about 60 per cent of the building. The Seafood Pub Company took the lease in 2017 and spent £1.2 million creating a 5,000 square foot inn, with a walkers' bar downstairs and a gin and Champagne bar upstairs. After that company's administration in 2020, The Fleece reopened in June 2021 under the Oakman Group, serving all-day British classics, seafood specials and ales from Timothy Taylor, Ilkley Brewery and Black Sheep.
Stone, oak beams and Yorkshire tweeds
The brief was 'old meets new', and the building supplied the old: rough stone walls, oak beams and roof trusses, antler chandeliers and hunting prints. In the ground-floor restaurant, banquettes with check cushions run beneath the windows, and solid oak tables sit alongside traditional spindle and Windsor-style chairs.
Upstairs, the function room is more contemporary, with dining chairs in a quilted finish exclusive to the project, in soft grey and mink, under a vaulted timber roof. Sage green bar stools line the counter of the first-floor gin bar, and the dark stains on every timber tie the old rooms and the new together.
