Colours of the year for 2027: greens lead the way

Dulux, Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams have each chosen a green for 2027, with soft clay and dusky pink close behind. What each brand picked, and how the shades carry over to fabrics, leathers and timber in a hospitality interior.

Every autumn the big paint brands name a colour for the year ahead. For 2027 the message is unusually consistent: three of the best known have chosen a green.

The 2027 picks so far

  • Dulux: Soulful Sage. A pale, bright sage, chosen as a mood-lifting colour drawn from nature. Dulux suggests pairing it with other greens. Announced in September 2026.
  • Benjamin Moore: Webster Green (HC-130). A confident, fairly saturated green, with a seven-colour palette to go with it. Announced on 14 October 2026.
  • Sherwin-Williams: Celery (SW 6421). A light, herbal green linked to calm and wellbeing, shown with a pale pickled oak wood stain. Announced on 15 September 2026.
  • Little Greene: Marle. A soft, mid-tone clay brown, suggested for cosy, cocooning rooms.
  • Graham & Brown: Rose Earth. A warm, dusky pink with brown undertones. Its mural of the year, Red Rose County, takes its cue from the Lancashire landscape.
  • Valspar (US): Cottage Door. A mid-tone blue with both warm and cool undertones.
  • WGSN and Coloro: Luminous Blue. A vivid blue in the lapis and cobalt family, from the trend forecasters.

Pantone had not named its 2027 colour when we wrote this. Its colour for 2026 was Cloud Dancer, a soft, balanced white.

A year on from 2026

The 2026 choices pulled in different directions: Pantone's white, Dulux's trio of blues (Rhythm of Blues), and Silhouette, a dark espresso brown, from Benjamin Moore. Brown has not gone away. Little Greene's Marle carries it into 2027.

What it means for furniture

Paint brands choose colours for walls, not upholstery, so what follows is our own view from the workshop.

Colour in a busy venue has to work hard, so ask for samples in contract-weight fabrics and leathers before you decide. Every upholstered piece we make is to CRIB 5.
