Boarding school furniture for Hereford Cathedral School
Rascal & Roses, who led the interior design, asked us to supply the soft seating. With their interior design partners, we made furniture in a traditional style to suit the Georgian building and its existing décor: deep-buttoned Chesterfield sofas from our own workshops, and Queen Anne wing chairs in Manhattan Antique Tan.

About Hereford Cathedral School
The boarding house is Wilmot House, named after an Old Herefordian who lived near How Caple and died in the First World War. It occupies the former How Caple Grange Hotel, in about five acres of countryside some 9.5 miles south-east of Hereford. The oldest part of the stone building dates from 1720, with large extensions in the 1850s and 1970s, and it was once part of the How Caple Manor Estate.
The school, whose documented history goes back to 1384, bought the property in 2018, and the first boarders arrived in April 2019, when it reintroduced boarding. Today the co-educational house takes up to 32 pupils in en-suite rooms, with an oak-panelled dining room, a common room, snack kitchens and grounds with a football area, basketball court and campfire area. Five residential staff live on site, and minibuses take pupils to the main school each day.

A Georgian house, furnished like a family home
Rascal & Roses wanted the house to feel warm and family-like rather than institutional, blending traditional and modern elements. In the common rooms, deep-buttoned Chesterfield sofas in a tan leather, studded along the arms, sit beneath tall Georgian windows, with Queen Anne wing chairs in Manhattan Antique Tan and a plaid wing chair beside them.
Pale blue curtains, soft grey walls and pale oak floors keep the rooms light, and the cushions bring the personality: pheasants and hares, kilim patterns and tartan, with a vintage travelling trunk for a coffee table. Leather suits a busy boarding house, because it wears in rather than out.
