Delivering food boxes to our local community
In the first weeks of the 2020 lockdown, our team helped turn food meant for hospitality into boxes for local people, raising money for Salford Royal along the way.

When pubs, restaurants and hotels closed in March 2020, food that had been meant for them was at risk of going to waste. Working with a local food wholesaler, our group set out to turn it into more than 2,000 food boxes in two weeks. Around 70 of our staff took part, with Ryan Mohieddin, then Forest Sofa's managing director.
Where the boxes went
- Boxes sold at The White Horse in Worsley raised more than £3,800 for Salford Royal hospital.
- Seven pallets went to the Humphrey Booth Day Care Centre, run by Age UK.
- Hundreds of boxes were delivered to local people through St Mary's Church, Ellenbrook.
- Further boxes went to North West Fire Control, Salford's mental health teams, local churches and charities, district nurses, Trafford adult social care and the Meadway Health Centre.
Thank you to everyone who gave their time.
